The history of Padrón starts with José Padrón who left Cuba after the Revolution for Miami, Florida. Refugees could get money from the Cuban Relief Fund so José took advantage of this option along with a lone from a friend began to roll cigars that soon became a hit with the local populace. The popularity of his cigars prompted to establish his the Padrón brand.
In 1970 he found a Nicaraguan Cuban-seed tobacco that José thought was the closet thing to Cuban Tobacco. José then built a factory in Nicaragua but civil unrest soon compelled him to move his operations to Honduras in 1979 and established another factory.
Today Padrón is known for its unsurpassed quality. Goodfellas Cigars highly recommends the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series.
