Bauzá belonged to that select group of Cuban cigars that were never exported. The conventional wisdom has it that the Cuban government of the 1920’s and 1930’s didn’t want to muddy the water by allowing too many Cuban brands into the export market. Bauzá, however, quickly found a ready acceptance on the local market and with tourists.Bauzá remains one of the true limited production cigars. It will never have wide distribution, and because of that, many will never taste it. It just isn’t available where most people buy cigars. The reason is simple. There just isn’t enough tobacco to meet the demand. This is a full-bodied cigar that takes a back seat to no one! Its mellow taste is accomplished by letting the Cubanito and Olor fillers cure for an extra year. Then when they are rolled in a Cameroon wrapper and aged, they emerge unparalleled. In the Cigar Aficionado/Cigar Insider rating system, Bauzá consistently achieves scores from 87 to 92. We feel it is our responsibility to bring these limited production treasures to the attention of the truly knowledgeable smoker. These are the cigars the manufacturer, Carlos Fuente, can lavish his attention on, can assign the energies of his star rollers to, can devote some of his best tobaccos to – ones that are not even available to large manufacturers because there simply isn’t enough to meet their demands.
