New Viaje Samurai Rumors are True

I was in Burn Premium Cigar Specialists in Burnsville MN and happened to over hear some very exciting news about Viaje. A new batch of Viaje Samurais are in the making and will be coming to BURN!

The first time the Viaje Samurai was released was in 2010 specially made for BURN. In 2010 Viaje let two cigar retailers design their own cigar, BURN being one of them and the other being New Havana Cigars. Both were able to choose one of two of the main stays of Viaje, the Oro or Plantino, and were able to choose their own size among other factors that made those cigars unique.

1 Year Anniversary Contest Winners

 To honor and thank all of our fans and readers Good Fellas Cigars with Burn Premium Cigar Specialists held a contest for Good Fellas Cigars 1 Year Anniversary! Thank you for all that participated in the contest you showed just why the cigar smoking community is the most engaged and friendliest around.

We strive to give you the reader the highest quality cigar media out there.  If you were around from the inception of GoodFellasCigars.com you would have saw an incredible evolution especially within the few short months of the of the summer of 2011. Just to highlight our changes in quick secession here is a list of the changes and  improvements:

  1. The lay out of GoodFellasCigars.com has been completely overhauled for ease of use and better navigation
  2. Shopping around for Cigar related products? Look no further than the Good Fellas Cigars Store. Here we combined the products of several vendors for your convenience. We add new products often and appreciate suggestions on what to include.
  3. You may have noticed our pictures on our reviews have improved significantly with the help of Manson Photo
  4. Our collection of professionally shot photos can be accessed here
  5. In August 2011 we started to high light one cigar by making it our cigar of the month with several sharp photos taken by Manson Photo.
  6. In addition to the cigar of the month we will also occasionally have a Hot Pick featured.
  7. You may already know we have a a Twitter and Facebook page but, we now also have a YouTube page.

Viaje Zombie

After the fall out Viaje MOB and WMD, zombies were birthed from all those in range across the country. Andre Farkes the scientist created the Viaje Zombie to compliment the Mother of All Bombs and the Weapon of Mass Destruction. After smoking the WOB and WMD one feels exactly like a zombie and thus comes the name sake of this cigar. There is no doubting that the Viaje Zombie, it does live up to its name.

This cigar has a pronounced espresso and chocolate flavors with a slight hint of spice and an even slighter hint of vanilla throughout. The construction is superb and had a very enjoyable draw that completely opens up a third of the way through with beautiful light blue smoke. The cigar had noticeably veined and oily wrapper that complemented the zombie fall out theme. The level of body was very full from start to finish and had a dark gray ash but, was not as strong as the MOB and WMD that has transformed many into the proverbial zombies. The first third of the Viaje Zombie was consistent with espresso and chocolate flavors with hints of spice and vanilla. The second third adds complexity to the Zombies flavor portfolio by adding a sweetness and pink pepper flavors while still maintaining the main flavors and tones. The final third just hits complexity out of the park by making stunning intricate flavor portfolio by further adding caramelized chocolate and lite wheat tones. The overall burn was just as perfect too with maybe a single touch up needed if wanted. Over all the Viaje Zombie struck an excellent  balance between strength and flavor. The Zombie was a very strong cigar yet did not in the leas skimp out on what was a fantastic flavorful experience.

Cigar News for the Week of 4/17/2011 – 4/22/2011

Three Sizes of Cuban Cristobals Cut

Regularly a number of Habanos S.A.’s portfolio of sizes are discontinued. This year, three San Cristóbal de la Habana sizes the Muralla, Mercaderes and Oficios will cease to be in production.

Each size was exclusive inside the Habanos line of cigars. The Muralla or Rodolfo measured 7 1/8 x 54 in was the biggest commonly manufactured torpedo in Cuba. The Mercaderes or Hermosos No. 1 is 6 5/8 x  48. The Oficios or Dalias Cortas is 5 3/8 x 43.

This cut will bring the San Cristóbal de la Habana done its original size profile.

The Viaje Oro Reserva No. 5 was the number 2 cigar of the year for 2010. Since the award everyone in the country wants him but he choose BURN Premium Cigar Specialist. Whose him you say?
