Macanudo Crü Royale

by GoodFellasCigars

Wrapper: Ecuadoran Habano

Filler: Brazilian Mata Fina, Nicaraguan and Dominican Viso longfiller

Binder: La Vega Especiale (Dominican Republic)

Country: Dominican Republic

To start off this was a well priced and excellent cigar all the way through, most likely due to the fact it was crafted by the legendary Benji Menedez. The same man who created the Limited Partagas Benji Master Series. This smoke uses an Ecuadorian wrapper that encloses a Dominican binder, Brazilian, Nicaraguan, and Dominican filler that makes an enjoyable medium-bodied smoke.  The Crü had thick veins and a soft pack that produced a lot of smoke. The initial draw was smooth and had thick creamy, nutty smoke with flavors of rich earth. The first third had a caramelized, creamy, sweet tobacco flavor with a perfect mix of earth and mixed nuts. The ash was white but, not to firm and the burn was slightly jagged that needed touch ups. The second third was for the most part was the same as the first third staying creamy and enjoyable with the burn getting a little better. As for the finish the burn evened out and the flavors weren’t overwhelming as in harsh until the absolute end. The caramelization went away and the earth toned down a bit with the nutty flavor remaining. This is a fairly new smoke by Macanudo that didn’t disappoint and stayed very consistent even though the burn was a bit jagged but, don’t let that turn you away this smoke is very recommended.

Fonseca Natural

by GoodFellasCigars

Wrapper: Shade Grown Connecticut

Filler: Dominican Republic

Binder: Mexican Sumatra

Country: Dominican Republic

Factory: MATASA Factory

The Fonseca Natural is a reasonable and good quality cigar that has a Connecticut wrapper that encloses a Mexican Sumatra binder and a Dominican Republic filler. This cigar uses tercio aged tabacco which is tobacco that slowly ferments in its own juices by being wrapped into bales and put into a warehouse and control at around 78 degrees at 70 percent humidity. This cigar is medium-bodied and has a smooth draw and an even burn. The initial taste was bland but about a third of way down it began to have a more creamy taste with flavors of pepper and lemon. Overall this cigar is good if your looking for a good, cheap everyday smoke.

Brick House Robusto

by GoodFellasCigars

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Havana Subido

Filler: Nicaraguan

Binder: Nicaraguan

Country: Nicaragua

Factory: Fabrica de Tabacos San Rafael S.A.

The Brick House got 17 out of 25 of the best cigars of 2010 which was made by J.C. Newman Cigar Co. that has been around since 1895. The name Brick House itself comes from an earlier brand that was named for the brick house in Hungary that the company founder was raised in. To make this cigar a bargain smoke around $5 the company in 2009 began working with a little-known factory called Fabrica de Tobacos San Rafael S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. Bobby and Eric Newman reinvented this old cigar brand by using Havana Subido wrapper leaves and aged Nicaraguan tobaccos for the binder and filler. The Brick House is a medium to full-bodied smoke that evokes toasty flavors of wood with tea and black pepper that gives a sweet and spicy taste. The smoke is meaty with the flavor of cocoa and cedar.
