Viaje, which means “journey” in spanish, is a small batch cigar company that uses Nicaraguan tobaccos from a farm in Esteli, Nicaragua. The Oro Reserva VOR No. 5 was ranked as Cigar Afficianado’s #2 cigar of 2010. This cigar by Andre Farkas helped Viaje launch into what they now consist of today. It took me on a journey that I thoroughly enjoyed but, will probably never take again. The construction on this cigar was flawless from its oily wrapper to the minimal amount of veins to the triple cap and lastly to the overall box-press shape. The cigar was firm to the touch and it was medium to full-bodied overall. The pre-light draw was a light spice with a sweet aroma. The initial flavor was a slight salt with mainly a kick of spice like a black pepper and the draw was smooth with a voluminous amount of smoke. The first third remained with the spice followed along with a leather flavor that was great with the suburb draw. The second third remained with the black pepper slightly but, then the sweetness of cocoa and warm coffee notes took center stage and were astounding! The combo of the flavors made the best profile for a cigar I have ever had to this point and I really wish others could have tried this stick. The final third and the finish were pretty much the same as the second but, the flavors warmed up a bit and slightly subdued. Usually a cigar near the end gets pretty harsh but, this stick softened out. The burn was flawless not once did I think about touching it up at all. The draw was excellent and the ash was firm but, flaked a little and was a darker gray. Overall this stick was just outstanding from the start to the finish and if anything comes out from Viaje that’s close I say snatch them up before they are gone.

789 Rocky Patel Strike

by GoodFellasCigars

789 Rocky Patel Strike, cigars best, low priced cigars

Wrapper:  Pennsylvania Broadleaf

Binder: Nicaraguan

Filler: Nicaraguan

Country: Nicaragua

The Rocky Patel Strike is a part of the 789 series available at Burn Premium Cigars and Tobacco Grove. The Strike is the Medium Bodied cigar of the series. It has a sweet aroma to it and a creamy taste right off the bat. Once you get into the first third it develops into the spicy, medium bodied cigar it truly is. With a long, peppery finish this cigar is very appealing to the fans of the very spicy cigars. As i got into the halfway point, I began to notice some woody flavor notes such as oak and cedar. There was a slightly rough burn developing, but the cigar corrected itself after just a short few draws. Throughout the entire cigar the draw remained almost perfect. The Strike became even spicier as it hit the final third to the nub.  I was very impressed by this stick and with how reasonably priced these are, you really get the ultimate bang for your buck.

Rocky Patel Serie.789 Hook

by GoodFellasCigars

Wrapper: Connecticut Seed Ecuadorian Shade Grown

Binder: Nicaraguan

Filler: Nicaraguan

Country: Nicaragua

The Rocky Patel Serie .789 Hook was blended exclusively for Burn and Tobacco Grove and sold by them. The Hook is a medium-bodied smoke with a Connecticut Seed Ecuadorian Shade Grown wrapper that encloses a Nicaraguan binder and filler.  The first draw of this cigar is lite and smooth with a sweet, creamy flavor that has a slight amount of peppery spice that doesn’t over power. The aroma is woody and the initial burn is a little jagged which eventually evens out at the midpoint of the cigar. Mid way through the sweetness is still there with flavors of nutmeg, wood, and spice coming on. Then just before the finish the peppery flavor kicks in.  The finish shows the sweetness dieing  out which turns into hints of burnt wheat and darker wood flavor with a little bit of harshness. Overall the Hook is a great medium-bodied cigar with excellent flavor that didn’t disappoint for a brand new cigar line.

789 Rocky Patel Roundhouse

by GoodFellasCigars

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano

Binder: Nicaraguan

Filler: Nicaraguan

Country: Nicaragua

The .789 Rocky Patel Roundhouse is sold exclusively at Burn cigar lounge and Tobacco Grove is a copper-brown cigar. The Roundhouse is medium- full bodied having wood and spice notes. This cigar starts out medium-strong for a sort period and by a quarter of the way down it mellows to a mild spice. The draw is excellent thought out, producing just the right amount of smoke. The last fourth up to the band becomes more intense but doesn’t become harsh; simply amplifying the flavor of the cigar. Over all the Roundhouse is an exceptional cigar and is highly recommended.
