The Carlos Torano Master Habano Maduro Toro Gordo is something fairly new from the Torano family. This cigar complements the original Torano Master by introducing a Nicaraguan shade wrapper instead of the Habano leaf from Ecuador. The new take on the Torano Master doesn’t disappoint at all!  Just looking at this stick you can see the dark and oily Nicaraguan wrapper is just hinting at how sweet and spicy this smoke is going to be.  Also looking at this cigar I see that it is double capped and has a few large rough veins. The wrapper also seems it has a color scheme of a maduro and an oscuro mix that has the effect of looking two toned. Finally I felt the pack of the cigar which is firm without any give to it. The first third of the Master Habano Maduro has an excellent balance of sweet and spicy. It is complex but not overwhelming. The main base of flavor comes from oak followed by a nice and toasty warm cocoa. Along with this is a creamy caramel and one other flavor I can’t seem to pin point just yet.

Just before the second third I give the cigar a quick retro-haul picking up the flavor of barnyard hay. Going through the second third I was finally able to pin point the final flavor of a candy type hazelnut. Other flavors that kind of seemed present were a gingerbread and a mocha. The sweetness goes down ever so slightly with the warm cocoa going up with the oak flavor. The right amount of spice is still present too and when approaching the final third an almond comes into play. The final third for the most part consists of oak at center stage with the creamy caramel, cocoa, and spice mix still present.

The finish was chewy and oaky with the flavors from before staying almost perfect all the way to the end. The ash all throughout the smoke was slightly flaky and holding almost about an inch long and, was white with a tad bit of light grey mixed in. As for the draw it was near effortless with floods of smoke off each puff. Even when resting in the ash tray a lot of smoke was coming off it. Lastly the burn started off jagged then corrects itself before the second third but, after the halfway point it goes jagged again and need a correction. All in all the Carlos Torano Master Habano Maduro Toro Gordo was an extremely good stick that I would smoke again and recommend to anyone that likes something with a complex and warm profile but, yet stays steady all the way to the nub.

Toraño “Makes Time to Launch” 3 Releases at 2012 IPCPR

by GoodFellasCigars

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TORAÑO FAMILY CIGAR COMPANY “MAKES TIME TO LAUNCH” 3 NEW RELEASES AT THE 2012 IPCPR IN ORLANDO

(Miami, FL) July 26th, 2012: Toraño Family Cigar Company is excited to introduce three new releases at the 2012 IPCPR in Orlando.  The three new cigars are in addition to, and come on the heels of, the recent successful launch of the Master Maduro.

The first new release is called Salutem.  Salutem is packaged in a unique 12 count box.  The cigar is dressed in a beautiful Habano Ecuador wrapper, complemented by a binder from Jalapa, Nicaragua and completed with filler tobacco from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Cameroon. While Toraño blends have featured tobacco from Cameroon in the past, this is the first time Cameroon has been a component of the filler, giving Salutem a distinctive, rich cocoa flavor.

Salutem, which is actually a Latin term used when extending a friendly greeting, is a medium bodied, complex blend exhibiting balanced notes of earth, cocoa and spicy pepper with interesting aged cedar and leather flavors present on the long finish. Salutem is inspired by the character and strong will of those who overcome great challenges and adversity.  Salutem represents a celebration of life and raises a toast to all those who live life to the fullest.

The Toraño Family also proudly announces the launch of its new LFC line.  The LFC is a 4.25 x 60 line extension to four of Toraño’s most popular blends.  The family chose the LoyalMasterExodus 1959 – 50 Years, and Vault to be featured in this new line.  The cigars will be housed in a custom designed Toraño Family display. One display will feature all four brands in the new 4.25 x 60 size.

By popular demand, the Toraño Family has created the 90+ Rated Collection pack which will feature Toraño blends that have garnered a coveted 90+ rating from worldwide cigar publications. This highly rated group of cigars comes in a beautiful cedar pack of 6 x 50 Toros.

“This IPCPR is the most ambitious to date regarding new releases for Toraño.  We have been hard at work for many years to offer a diversity of flavors and packaging to our consumers and it’s exciting to get them to the market,” says Charlie Toraño, President of Toraño Family Cigar Company.

Toraño Announces the Winner of the Grand Prize Trip to Arrington Vineyards

by GoodFellasCigars

Date: February 6, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Miami, FL) February 6, 2012Toraño Family Cigar Co. is happy to announce Timothy Hudson as the grand prize winner of the month-long Toraño-Arrington wine fridge contest. This contest saw 25 lucky winners walk away with a Toraño branded stainless steel wine fridge and the grand prize winner being awarded a weekend trip to Nashville, Tennessee to visit Arrington Vineyards.

Timothy Hudson of Allentown, Michigan, who is an avid fan of Toraño brands, heard about the Toraño-Arrington contest and decided to make a trip with his brother to the nearest participating cigar store,  Jenuwine Cigar Factory Outlet in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Hudson was originally introduced to smoking cigars while playing cards with friends.  He quickly moved up to premium handmade cigars and notes that one of his favorites is the highly rated Toraño Exodus1959. While at Jenuwine and having a smoke and sampling the Arrington Vineyards-Toraño Antebellum Private Barrel Reserve wine, Timothy entered the contest by purchasing a box of Exodus. Timothy was later excited to hear that he won the raffle for the stainless steel wine fridge and was about to get a bigger surprise after he was automatically entered to win the grand prize.

A few weeks later at Toraño headquarters in Miami, Florida, Toraño Family Cigar Co. President, Charlie Toraño, reached his hand into a drawing box and pulled out the winning entry awarding the grand prize trip to Timothy Hudson. Timothy said that he was floored when he received a call from Jack Toraño. After gathering his thoughts he could only laugh out loud as he remembered that he promised to take his brother on the trip if he were to win. Timothy stated with a grin that he would envision taking his girlfriend to Arrington Vineyards for a romantic getaway, and then jokingly said that he spoke too soon by inviting his brother. Jokes aside, he said that spending a weekend with his brother while smoking cigars and drinking award winning wines is more than he could ask for.

The grand prize trip to Nashville, Tennessee will be an all-expense paid weekend experience with the highlight being a VIP visit to Arrington Vineyards complete with a tasting of their exquisite wines. Kip Summers, the winemaker and one of Arrington Vineyards’ partners with Kix Brooks (of Brooks and Dunn fame), will lead the tour and wine tasting. Also on the agenda will be a gourmet lunch on the outdoor bistro tables overlooking 75 acres of sheer beauty. Timothy will enjoy some of Toraño’s finest cigars as they are joined by Charlie Toraño himself. The experience of smoking some of the finest cigars, while sipping on award winning wines, will surely be a treat for any true cigar & wine enthusiast.

This contest awards 25 lucky winners a stainless steel wine refrigerator that holds twenty-four bottles of wine and qualifies them for a Grand Prize trip to Arrington Vineyards in Nashville, Tennessee.

The idea for this exciting collaboration sprung from the personal relationship between Bruce Lewis, Toraño’s VP of Sales and Marketing, and Kip Summers, the winemaker and one of Arrington Vineyards’ partners with Kix Brooks (of Brooks & Dunn fame).  Lewis and Summers have had a mutual admiration for each other’s respective industry for a very long time.  The scenic beauty of the vineyards, coupled with an array of incredible wines, has led to many cigar smoking occasions at Arrington.   Toraño Family Cigar Co. wanted to share this special experience with one of its consumers.

Toraño Family Cigar Co. is ready to award 25 Toraño branded wine refrigerators in a raffle at select stores around the country.  The wine fridge promotion will last for thirty days at each store and will culminate in an end of the month grand event to award the wine refrigerator.  Toraño will offer unique merchandise and specials at each store during the month long promo.  The most unique item is a bottle of Arrington Vineyards-Toraño Antebellum private barrel reserve wine.  This Toraño private label wine was created by Arrington Vineyards and was made specifically to compliment the fine cigars created by the Toraño family.  This distinctive wine has been aged for 16 months in oak wine barrels then aged a further 6 months in Tennessee whiskey barrels.  The pairing of Toraño cigars with the Arrington Antebellum can be experienced only at select tobacconists.

The grand prize trip to Nashville, Tennessee will be an all-expense paid weekend experience that will feature a grand tour of the Arrington Vineyards facility complete with a tasting of their exquisite wines.
