Viaje Zombie

by GoodFellasCigars

Wrapper: Nicaragua

Binder: Nicaragua

Filler: Nicaragua

Country: Honduras

Factory: Raices Cubanas

Size: 4 3/4 x 52

After the fall out Viaje MOB and WMD, zombies were birthed from all those in range across the country. Andre Farkes the scientist created the Viaje Zombie to compliment the Mother of All Bombs and the Weapon of Mass Destruction. After smoking the WOB and WMD one feels exactly like a zombie and thus comes the name sake of this cigar. There is no doubting that the Viaje Zombie, it does live up to its name.

This cigar has a pronounced espresso and chocolate flavors with a slight hint of spice and an even slighter hint of vanilla throughout. The construction is superb and had a very enjoyable draw that completely opens up a third of the way through with beautiful light blue smoke. The cigar had noticeably veined and oily wrapper that complemented the zombie fall out theme. The level of body was very full from start to finish and had a dark gray ash but, was not as strong as the MOB and WMD that has transformed many into the proverbial zombies. The first third of the Viaje Zombie was consistent with espresso and chocolate flavors with hints of spice and vanilla. The second third adds complexity to the Zombies flavor portfolio by adding a sweetness and pink pepper flavors while still maintaining the main flavors and tones. The final third just hits complexity out of the park by making stunning intricate flavor portfolio by further adding caramelized chocolate and lite wheat tones. The overall burn was just as perfect too with maybe a single touch up needed if wanted. Over all the Viaje Zombie struck an excellent  balance between strength and flavor. The Zombie was a very strong cigar yet did not in the leas skimp out on what was a fantastic flavorful experience.

Skull and Bones Weapon of Mass Destruction

by GoodFellasCigars

Wrapper: Nicaraguan

Filler: Nicaraguan

Binder: Nicaraguan

Country: Nicaragua

Size: WMD

Our story starts out with a nuclear explosion accompanied by a mushroom cloud with the aftershock setting off an avalanche coming right for you while you are skiing on expert terrain. Oh, and did I mention that you never skied before? To even survive you have to be a world class skier. Well image all that combined into a small but cigar labeled by a red skull and bones. Well short story short beginners should not take on the Viaje Skull and Bones Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD). Just don’t do it. instead go for the San Cristobal Selección Del Sol a medium yet smooth cigar.

If you have taken the challenge to take on this insane cigar here is what to expect. This is the strongest cigar we have come across so far and we’re guessing that we will not come across another that compares for quite some time. This WMD has flavors of intense spice and tobacco with hints of black liquorish especially in the finish. The draw is good giving off a respectable amount of smoke. The ash is dark and flaky. The construction is wonderful but, a down side is the uneven burn.  The first and second third is consistent and the last third becomes slightly harsh due to the heat from the burn. Stop smoking whenever you have had enough of getting your ass kicked.

Viaje Cigars

by GoodFellasCigars

Viaje, which means “journey” in spanish, is a boutique cigar company that is known for its idea of small batch production; sometimes producing as few as 50 boxes of a particular line of cigars. Andre Farkas is the founder of Viaje Cigar CO, which is based out of Los Angeles, California. Viaje was put on the map when they were placed #2 on the Cigar Aficionado top 25 with a rating of 95! While many of the Viaje lines have been right around the medium body range, but Andre has released a few of lines that will make you sit down and feel like you just went 10 rounds with Muhammad Ali. The Viaje Skull and Bones releases have been known to be extremely powerful, the MOAB was one of the strongest cigars I have ever had. Viaje also released the Zombie this past April as well as the Black Label Fifty-Fifty which was composed of 2 blends in one cigar, the Fifty-Fifty went from Full, to Fuller. Viaje releases new lines of cigars close to every quarter of a year, often coming out with seasonal lines that fit the time of year.
